Esteemed horticulturalist and investigative comedian Lawrence Leung has directed yet another show? Does this man never stop?! Not when he's onto a good thing.
The show is 'Courteney Hocking's Foolish Ideas and Crackpot Inventions show.' What it's about is basically in the title, but it's a cracker of a show. This reporter has seen a test run and the fun of it nearly BLEW HIS MIND. (It does also contain a brief and entertaining history of sliced bread, hence the headline.)
It's on at the North Melbourne Town Hall (cnr of Queensbury and Errol Sts) from Staurday the 1st-Sunday the 8th of October at 7.30pm. (But it's not on on Monday the 3rd. Stay in that night. Make a nice risotto). Bookings can be made on 8412 8777.
I apologise to non-Melbournites who read this. I mean, you could come into town especially, but i realise that that may be impratical. Then again, a wee holiday could do you great good. Although for the UKish amongst you i suppose it would be more than a wee holiday. But you can always stay at my (Andrew) or Law's place for a while if you need to. Yeah.
Have a lovely October everybody!

Swaziland's exulted monarch, King Mswati III, long time comedy fan and amateur parochialist, today declared Andrew McClelland his favourite non-Swazi comedian.
"It's his material about foppish British artists Gilbert & George that really appeals to me." The flavoursome king was heard to pronounce. (Kings just love to pronounce don't they?) "It's everyman comedy that speaks to every...man. And that's why I knighted him.
"I hope he and his manservant Lawrence Leung bring their show to Swaziland." The King proclaimed in a rich baritone "We've outlawed Secret Societies here and nobody will understand what they're talking about." The king then continued with comments about how great Swaziland was, whilst Andrew felt a little concerned at Lawrence's reaction to the king's embarrassingly class oriented comment.
"Doesn't everybody know that Andrew is my servant?" Lawrence Opined when interviewed this week at his west Kew retreat.
"It's true," Andrew agreed. "I'm very much a mere Gilbert to his George" Andrew opined with one of his every man comments that appealed to every...man.
In further news, Andrew McClelland wrote a groundless claim in third person today to liven up the news section of the site a little more.
Or did he...?
Yes, he did.
Or did he...?
Andrew and Lawrence complete their separate solo show seasons at the Oddfellows* New Zealand International Comedy Festival in Auckland.
They were both nominated for the BEST SHOW CONCEPT award in the Closing Night Awards Ceremony.
They once again re-unite and are currently reworking the Somewhat Secret Secret Society Show for Scottish audiences.
ANDREW McCLELLAND & LAWRENCE LEUNG'S SOMEWHAT SECRET SECRET SOCIETY SHOW
2005 EDINBURGH FRINGE, August 3-28.
At the Gilded Balloon Teviot, 8:15pm.
* - footnote: "Oddfellows" - It's must be pointed out that the NZ comedy festival's major sponsor was not the Independant Order of Oddfellows (a rival secret society to the Masons, now a major financial building society named IOOF). Oddfellows is a brand of spearmint confectionary that some comedians at the festival believed tasted like urinal cakes, but were contractually forbidden from saying so...
Lawrence and Andy split up!
This May, they get sick of each other and perform their SOLO shows, SEPARATELY... at the ODDFELLOWS NEW ZEALAND INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL in Auckland.
Andrew McClelland performs his award-winning "Somewhat Accurate History of Pirates". A proven festival favourite, this show won the Piece of Wood award at the Melbourne Comedy festival in 2004 and a swag of critical acclaim in Dunedin, Adelaide Fringe, Sydney Big Laugh Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. It's about pirates.
Lawrence Leung performs his award-winning show "SUCKER". It won the Best Solo show in 2001 Melbourne Fringe and became a runaway success at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Dublin Fringe, before celebrating its 100th performance at the Sydney Opera House. It is an expose of con artistry and professional liars.
See both shows on the same night, back-to-back:
HISTORY OF PIRATES: Tue 10 – Sat 14 May, 7pm
SUCKER: Tue 10 – Sat 14 May, 8.30pm
Both at same venue, same room:
The Playhouse Comedy Underground at the Wallace Trust Gallery, 305 Queen Street, City, Auckland
The boys would love it if you could recommended this show to your Kiwi friends.

And this time the title is: "Andrew McClelland & Lawrence Leung's Somewhat Secret secret Society Show". Only fair.
At the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Awards Ceremony, the Age Critics Award Judges declare "Somewhat Secret Secret Society Show" as one of their "Highly Commendable" shows of the festival.
